SACI Alumna Gisèle (Gigi) Bryers (Spring 1984) is exhibiting her work in the Galleria d’Agostiniana in Rome. Bryer’s solo exhibition, titled Opere Tridimensionali (3D Works), runs from February 1-13, 2014. The gallery belongs to the Vatican and is part of the Complesso Monumentale Museo L’Agostiniana located in Piazze del Popolo 12. Bryers lives in Switzerland and had this to say about her recent work:
I’ve been working on my drawing, more specifically the strangely minor esteem we have for drawing versus painting. Consequently I began using pencils, my fingers, and erasers as one would use an oil paint brush. This is something I already did, but pushed it one step further to see if addressing “drawing” as “painting” would actually make a difference. What came out of it was a pretty strange series of portraits, which will be shown along with much earlier 3D work. G.B.
