The White Shirt According to Me. Gianfanco Ferré.

Italy, known for its contributions to the world of design, has created some truly creative fashion designers, one of them being Gianfanco Ferré (1944-2007). With a background in architecture and a formative experience in India, he began designing jewelry and accessories before launching into clothing. Departing from the classic white shirt, Ferré has turned this blank canvas into wearable sculpture which becomes the protagonist of the wearer’s experience.

Co-organized by the Prato Textile Museum Foundation and the Gianfranco Ferré Foundation, the exhibition pays homage to the work and talent of the fashion designer that represents a continuous dialogue between architecture and fashion.

Focusing attention on the designer’s exquisite sartorial poetics, this exhibition guides the visitor on a unique journey to discover the white shirt, the true paradigm of the Ferré’s style, in an itinerary that highlights his remarkably rich vision, with innovative design elements and enthralling creative interpretations.

27 shirts are displayed in a dramatic presentation along with original sketches, illustrations, x-ray like photographs, and videos from the catwalks.
