Jonathan Harwood: Under the Stage

Monday, April 14, 2014 at 7:45pm (one night only)

SACI Gallery – Palazzo dei Cartelloni
Via Sant’Antonino 11, Florence – ITALY

Installation by SACI Digital Multimedia student Jonathan Harwood.

Under the Stage is an investigation and exploration of one of Florence’s most unique theater groups: Isole Comprese Teatro. This theater works primarily with members of marginalized groups, including psychiatric patients. After observing and recording the theater’s rehearsals, Jonathan Harwood presents work inspired by the theater’s one of a kind dynamic. Through video, audio, and photographs, this exhibit attempts to capture its member’s energy, power, and voice which society most often quiets.

Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 8pm (one night only)

SACI Garden – Jules Maidoff Palazzo
Via Sant’Egidio 14, Florence – ITALY

Installation by SACI Digital Multimedia student John Woodward.

Stillness yields a type of tranquility that possesses both the most unpleasant and the most beautiful. It is the result of opposites, unified to create wholeness. Inherently dynamic, stillness suggests a paradox; which is the paradox we face and live in each day. With special interests in how audio defines video, John Woodward sets out to explore the fleeting nature of human perspective and express the ephemeral quality of our experiences through his video installation, STILLNESS.
