AACUPI Alcohol Awareness Art Competition in collaboration with Testadialkol

Spring 2014 SACI student from MICA, Jessica Bastidas, submitted her artwork to an art competition with the goal of raising awareness to over-drinking and drunkenness, sponsored by Association of American College and University Programs in Italy (AACUPI) in collaboration with Testadialko for Drinking on the Right Side. Jessica was recently awarded a prize of 150 euros at the award ceremony and exhibition which was held in the Misericordia di Firenze, right next to Florence’s Duomo. Congratulations, Jessica!

According to the artist, “this work was created to show alcohol’s ability to erode away a person’s sense of identity and importance. It is meant to demonstrate the isolation and depression resultant from over drinking.” You can see other student art submissions here. This is a very important initiative for awareness of an issue that affects many young students in Italy, both foreign and Italian.
