Luca Pancrazzi

Mi disperdo e proseguo lasciandomi indietro un passo dopo l’altro

May 8 – June 27, 2014

Opens May 8 at 6:30pm
Curated by Pietro Gaglianò

Assab One hosts the solo exhibition of Luca Pancrazzi, Mi disperdo e proseguo lasciandomi indietro un passo dopo l’altro. Drawings, recovered objects, sculptures, photos, slides, cut-outs, forgotten and re-emerged elements, as well as new works, a film and a long wal-drawing represent th vision of the artist on time and landscape, unfolding in the vast spaces (more than 1,500 square meters) of Assab One. The imaginary atlas of Luca Pancrazzi is on display for the first time with new artworks and site-specific works.

The exhibition takes its title from the previously unreleased film, a singular monumental sequence drawing 35 meters long. Mi disperdo e proseguo lasciandomi indietro un passo dopo l’altro concerns the incessant activity of the eye and its attention to the landscape, an action that sometimes is deviated by the artist’s inner quests, and by the peculiarity of the medium selected.Assab One’s main space contains an installation originated by a process of recovery and autobiographical observation made by the artist. It gathers pictures, texts, preparatory studies rediscovered or re-emerged from his archive together with a long wall drawing appearing in various spaces. All these elements rebuild the imaginary atlas of Luca Pancrazzi: the constants, the archetypes, and recurring themes.

On the first floor a revised and amplified version of Fili da te di-versi da me features dozens of plumb lines hanging from the ceiling asking the viewer to visualize the space through a means of measurement. Another exhibit, Restituzione di paesaggio, is an image stream toward the cityscape collected by the artist over several years, unconventionally re-presenting them from where they originated

Mi disperdo e proseguo lasciandomi indietro un passo dopo l’altro is a collection of informative elements, gathered and recovered fragments which opens new re-elaborated views on the landscape and time using scattered pieces in a complex vision. Visitors may contribute to this composition by connecting suggestions and perspectives during their walk through the spaces of Assab One.
