SACI ceramics instructor, Lisa Nocentini, has a piece in a group exhibition in Mantua (Mantova, Italy) dedicated to Tazio Nuvolari–a famous Italian car and motocycle racer of the first half of the 20th century. Resident in Mantua, he was known as ‘Il Mantovano Volante’ (The Flying Mantuan) and nicknamed ‘Nivola’. His victories—72 major races, 150 in all—included 24 Grands Prix, five Coppa Cianos, two Mille Miglias, two Targa Florios, two RAC Tourist Trophies, a Le Mans 24-hour race, and a European Championship in Grand Prix racing. Ferdinand Porsche called him “the greatest driver of the past, the present, and the future.”

Lisa Nocentini was mentioned in the article about the exhitibion with an image of her work (below, top left) in the Gazzetta di Mantova newspaper on September 11, 2014, page 33 in the Culture section.

She has a Diploma of Applied Arts in Painting and Ceramics from the Istituto d’Arte di Porta Romana, Florence; she studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti, Florence, and painting and ceramics at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Aix-en-Provence, France. Lisa also studied ceramics with English potters David Leach and John Colbeck and, from 1978 to 1981, and served as assistant to Bruno Gambone. Since 1982, she has worked as a professional potter in Florence and participated in exhibitions and competitions in Italy, Germany, and Switzerland.
