Lo Schermo dell’Arte Film Festival 2014 – 7th edition is an international project dedicated to exploring, analyzing and promoting the relations between contemporary art and cinema, active in Florence since 2008. Lo Schermo dell’arte Film Festival this year involves various locations around the city creating a diffused Festival.
During the 50 Giorni di Cinema Internazionale a Firenze, the 7th edition of Lo Schermo dell’Arte Film Festival 2014 (November 12 to 16) features 30 films in five days including documentaries and art films. The program includes meetings, workshops and residencies, focusing on the stories and protagonists of contemporary art.
Opening at 9pm on Wednesday the 12th – the documentary Cutie and the Boxer, Oscar-nominated 2014 short story of the artist-boxer Ushio Shinohara and his wife Noriko “Cutie”. The Focus On will be dedicated to Hito Steyerl, one of the most acclaimed in the world of visual arts among those who work with moving images, who will represent Germany at the Venice Biennale 2015. Among the other guests of this edition: Philippe-Alain Michaud, Director of the Department of Experimental Cinema at the Centre Pompidou. Bethenod Martin, Director of the Palazzo Grassi-Punta della Dogana-Pinault collection, will be introducing three video works by the artists Yael Bartana, Cinthia Marcelle and Shirin Neshat from the collection François Pinault.

Through this original and coherent system of activities, Lo Schermo dell’Arte Film Festival has won its own role in the Italian contemporary art scene, as well as internationally, and collaborates with institutions, art centers, school of arts and universities in Italy and abroad.
