Giving Thanks: SACI’s Throw Back Thursday (TBT) retro tribute of 1977-78

Today is Thanksgiving Day and SACI is thankful for the thousands of alumni who have studied at SACI since the school was founded in 1975, thankful to its dedicated faculty, and to all Friends and Supporters of SACI. And because it is Thursday, it is also Throw Back Thursday, featuring some retro images recently shared to us from SACI Alum Jay Tracy (Summer 1976).

Jay recounts, “I am one of Jules Maidoff’s very first “SACI-era” students. I studied with him at his magnificent Pian di’Sco home/studio during the Summer of 1976, along with four other young artists from the US, Belgium and Italy. My matriculation was part of Drake University’s Study Abroad Program (I earned my Honors BFA in Painting from Drake University the following year). SACI was still being born in 1976 and my multidisciplinary matriculation, which was creatively split between Florence, Pian di’Sco, and elsewhere through the region, remains one of the most important, memorable and transformative times of my creative life.”

If you are one of the many SACI Alumni and would like to share your memorable images with use, please send them to alumni@saci-florence.edu, where you can also update your contact information, tell us about your creative achievements, and stay in touch with SACI. We would love to hear from you!
