SACI MFA exhibition

An Immersion into Culture: due anni di soggiorno in Toscana

March 10-17, 2015

Update: due to political demonstrations, the opening reception has been reschedule for:

Opening: Wednesday, March 11th at 4:30 pm

An exhibition of art by 10 first-year students in the 2-year MFA Programs at Studio Art Centers International (SACI), Florence: MFA in Studio Art and MFA in Photography

The works in this show have been produced by SACI first year Master of Fine Arts students during their first six months of a two-year program (MFA in Studio Art or MFA in Photography). They reflect in different ways the influence of Tuscany and Florence on the artistic practice of these young artists. The contemporary and historic beauty of the region and it’s rich and vibrant artistic fabric have made it a necessary stop for many artists as an essential part of their education. This confrontation with a different culture encourages reflection on one’s own culture and through the differences a synthesis can be sought through the work of art. The work of the artists in the show are possibilities of engagement between cultures and will hopefully offer insights into their unique experience in Tuscany.  —Karen Yurkovich, MFA in Studio Art Program Director

The exhibition is being graciously hosted by the Region of Tuscany, located just across the street from the Palazzo Medici Riccardi. Please bring a form of photo I.D. to enter the governmental building.
