SACI scultpure class and instructor John Taylor on a field trip to Carrara and Pietrasanta, Summer 2015This summer, the SACI sculpture class went on a field trip into the picturesque marble mountains of Pietrasanta and Carrara with their instructor, John Taylor. They were shown demonstrations on various classic and contemporary sculpture carving and casting techniques in professional sculpture studios and production facilities. They walked in the beautiful stone quarries — the white cathedral caves of Carrara — the same area where Michelangelo chose his marble to carve some of his most famous works of art.
