Dialogue Between East and West
September 7 – October 2, 2015
Opening Reception: Monday, September 7 at 6pm
The exhibition Dialogue Between East & West is a continuation of work about exploring diverse cultures by Khaldoon Daoud (born in Al Fuhais, Jordan, 1960). Paintings of human faces from East and West dominate much of his artwork; they provide experimental canvases that express human feelings and emotions.
Location also has a strong influence on this work. The Jordan River has symbolic importance for freedom, crossing from life to heaven, flowing from dryness to fertility, providing inspiration for varied sensations expressed through the human faces of ancient nations reflected in its waters. This project is a discovery and journey that explores the space between life and art as it reflects the passion and excitement of the beauty of the human form.
Selected previous work will be included to provide context for the new work, Daoud will be at the opening to demonstrate his painting process and engage the audience in a discussion of his approach, technique, and style.
