ARTEFIERA January 29 – February 1, 2016: once again this year with the 40th edition, Bologna hosts Artefiera: International Exhibition of Contemporary Art. This is one of the most important contemporary art fairs in Italy and is only a quick 35 minute train ride to Bologna from Florence, and SACI students love attending this big event every spring! Galleries from all of the country as well as international ones will be exhibiting over 1100 contemporary artists. And the night of Saturday, January 30, the city of Bologna has a “White Night” celebration where shops, art galleries and museums will be open late into the wee hours of the night and having special events (see below).
ARTEFIERA 2016 will open its doors for its 40th edition with 190 modern and contemporary art galleries, 222 exhibitors, underlining the growth and the international importance of the eventas the largest exhibition of Italian modern and contemporary art.
20,000 m2 of exhibition space – 3 pavilions: 25,26 and 32 – over 2000 works and more than 1000 artists represented.
A great tribute to the city of Bologna, to celebrate 40 years of the event: the national premier of River of Fundament, the film by Mathew Barney will debut at the Teatro Comunale, and the exhibition ARTEFIERA 40, with two exhibition venues: at the Pinacoteca di Bologna (“The galleries’ view of great Italian art”) which gathers the main exponents of four decades of Italian artistic production and the promising youngsters who may become the masters of the future of contemporary art and at MAMbo, the Museum of Modern Art Bologna, “The Story of a Collection,” which will exhibit a selection of works acquired by BolognaFiere.
An even richer program of events for ART CITY Bologna and the White Night of Art on Saturday 30th January with hundreds of events and thousands of people enjoying the most magical night of art of the year.
