ORGANIC CITIES

SACI Digital Multimedia Exhibition

Cartavetra Gallery, Florence – Italy

Alexia Almeida, Emily Ambach, Rose Bishop, Rachel Gjersvik, Haley Madigan, Tyron Mah, Dana Schwartz, Bianca Scofield

Curated by Dejan Atanackovic

On April 18-19, 2016, the works of the SACI Digital Multimedia students were on view at Cartavetra Gallery in Florence. After a semester dedicated to the reflections on urban spaces and their meanings, projects were developed around the analogies between the body and the city. The body as a place, and the city as an organic structure thus become the motivation to narrate experiences, feelings, dreams, dialogues, but also share reflections on some classical themes in art such as the nude and the landscape. The works therefore include a classical nude revisited via Skype, the imprints of the faces that become fairytale images, a transparent body, a series of video-landscapes…

The course at SACI, taught by Belgrade-Florence-based artist Dejan Atanackovic, has been held since 2000 in collaboration with Florentine galleries, festivals and theaters. The end-of-term exhibitions of the Multimedia class have been presented in the spaces of La Corte Arte Contmporanea, Sergio Tossi gallery, Spazio Tempo, Fabbrica Europa, Teatro dell’Affratellamento and others.
