Earlier this month, SACI’s Post-Bac in Studio Art students went with instructor, Lorenzo Pezzatini to visit two big exhibitions happening now in Florence, John Currin: Paintings, dispersed between historical works of art in the Museo Bardini, and Jan Fabre: Spiritual Guards installed on the grounds of the Forte Belvedere.
After crossing over the river to the Oltr’Arno side of Florence, toward the San Niccolò neighborhood to the Bardini Museum, the class hiked up the hill to the beautiful setting of the Belvedere Fort located on a hill above Florence sandwiched between the Boboli and Bardini Gardens. Not only was the Jan Fabre installation spectacular, but so was the view of the city. (Photos by Christina Gednalske.)
In addition to the Forte Belvedere installation, Jan Fabre’s famous shiny gold sculpture, Looking for Utopia (2003), which has been parked right in the middle of Florence’s Piazza della Signoria, will soon be removed. Don’t miss these exhibitions if you are in Florence—they both end soon on October 2, 2016.
