Conference curated by Greenpeace Local Group of Florence, Italy
The Biagiotti Progetto Arte Foundation is pleased to invite you on Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. to the third round of the EcoTalk cycle, a series of in-depth lectures on specific topics related to the environment. The conferences, organized by the Foundation in collaboration with various local and national associations, will be held through February, in conjunction with the exhibition Ecosistemi.
The gallery talk, on the occasion of Pitti Uomo 91, will present the Detox My Fashion campaign, with which Greenpeace is committed to promoting a fashion that is clean and without toxic substances.
To produce the clothes we wear every day numerous toxic substances are used, that are dangerous to the environment and our health. The textile sector is, in fact, one of the most polluting productive sectors, with a strong impact on the waters of our Planet. To stop the pollution from textile production Greenpeace, in 2011, has launched the Detox campaign. To date, already 15% of the global textile production, in terms of sales, has chosen to produce clothing free of toxic substances.
Last year, in addition to numerous international companies, 27 companies in the textile district of Prato, Europe’s largest fashion district, undertook a virtuous and sustainable path towards the complete elimination of toxic substances.
Together with Greenpeace experts, the conference will present Giuseppe Ungherese, Pollution Campaign Manager for Greenpeace Italy, and fashion entrepreneurs, representatives of the Italian Detox Consortium.
