Through March 11, 2017
Alan Cristea Gallery – London
A survey of new prints by Jim Dine, one of America’s most prolific artists, is on view at the Alan Cristea Gallery from February 9 – March 11, 2017. Poet Singing includes eight new, previously unseen prints depicting singing poets. Made over the past 12 months with master printmakers in Austria, Paris, and the US, these works highlight Dine’s status as a renowned poet, as well as painter and printmaker.
The singing poets will be shown alongside works dating from 2013 to 2016, including a recent series of large abstract prints, as well as examples of Dine’s continued fascination with Pinocchio and his reinvention of the iconic motifs of hearts, bathrobes, and Venuses.

Jim Dine’s Print Donation to the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne
Jim Dine: A Life in Print upcoming exhibition opens July 14, 2017
Dine has recently gifted hundreds of works to the NGV including some of his most iconic prints covering decades of his career featuring his signature motifs of hearts, bathrobes, tools, skulls, and Pinocchio. In honor of this important donation, the NGV is planning an exhibition, Jim Dine: A Life in Print, opening July 14, 2017.
Featuring 100 works made between 1969–2013, Jim Dine: A Life in Print presents a survey of Dine’s print oeuvre. The exhibition reveals the artist‘s experimental approach to the medium: Dine combines various techniques and frequently uses power-tools to grind the plate, scrapes and rubs the paper to create new textures and marks, and ‘attacks’ the works in a series of spontaneous actions. Taking an unconventional approach to traditional materials and techniques, Dine injects his work with an expressive, energetic quality. This is Jim Dine’s first monographic exhibition in Australia, and the prints on display are part of a gift of 249 works which the artist donated to the NGV in 2016.
