Curated by Francesco Lauretta

The Giovanni Bonelli Gallery in Milan presents a new exhibition project curated by Francesco Lauretta, artist and SACI Directed Independent Study instructor, who works with several MFA students at SACI. The exhibition presents the works of four artists – Maurizio Cannavacciuolo, Fulvio Di Piazza, Marco Peace, and Francesco Lauretta – geographically distant, but united by a common dedication: painting in peculiar times.

Each artist has an exhibition wall devoted to their work, with the addition of an “introductory” neon – conceived by the curator – with total freedom of expression and without a pre-arranged theme. The result is a journey of about twenty works, which is articulated as a story about a “total work” that can be seen, but also listened to with music by the artists, and appreciated in moments.

As for the title of the exhibition, the curator recalls the French Philosopher, Deleuze and the definition of an “idiot” as someone who simply does not know what everyone else knows or at least does not take that knowledge for granted…and that the idiot is perhaps one of the most revolutionary of people.
